In this mobile world of ours, people mostly use their phones to spend money. Well, how about using your beloved gadget to earn a few shekels instead of letting them down the drain? AppNana is just one of the hundreds of apps that promise to help you do just that. You need to install it and complete some (supposedly) easy tasks, and they will reward you with tiny amounts of cash.
But downloading random apps comes with great danger, and that’s why I did some digging to learn if AppNana is a safe and legit app or a scam. Read on before tapping that Install button!

The Company Conundrum
The app was developed by a company called Mapiz, Inc. When you visit their site Mapiz.com, here’s what you get.
Yep, it shows exactly the same landing page like AppNana.com, only without a SSL encryption that would offer a layer of protection to their users.
Okay, let’s be magnanimous here. Maybe AppNana is their only project. And they don’t need to secure their company website because they aren’t collecting any personal or sensitive info from the visitors. But what about Google and its restrictive policies towards unsafe websites? The Mapiz people seem to not care about it. Well, it’s their right, and I won’t pass judgment on that account.
However, there’s something else I find most curious and, frankly, a bit concerning. They haven’t listed their contact anywhere. We don’t know where they’re based, what phone number to call in case of trouble, who is the CEO or any other people in charge. My experience has taught me that such lack of accountability always raises a red flag. Why would anyone withhold the crucial info from their users if they have nothing to hide? Crunchbase doesn’t help either. While it vaguely says that the company is headquartered in the Greater Seattle Area, the Mapiz Twitter account mentions Silicon Valley, while LinkedIn says it’s Bellevue, Washington. The confusion gets bigger when you find an entry on the Trademarkia, where they list one Jason R Lee as a trademark correspondent but offer next to zero additional info.
But let’s not jump to the conclusion that they are a scam just yet. Maybe they just did a sloppy job with their online presentation.
How Does It Work?
The process is simple:
- Download the app from Google Play or Apple Store
- Register with your email address and pick a password
- Start earning Nana credits by downloading paid apps for free, playing games, clicking ads, or watching videos
How Much Can I Earn on AppNana?
Just for downloading the app and creating an account, you will get 10,000 Nana points. Then, every task will bring you anywhere from 1,000 to 60,000 points. You guessed right – the more Nana points a task is worth, the more time it will require to complete.
Apart from completing tasks, AppNana offers a few additional ways to maximize your earnings. For example, you’ll get 400 credits each day when you log in. You may also get special offers like clicking ads or videos. How much are those worth? Don’t jump for joy. If 1,000 Nana points are little, 5 points are even less.
A more significant gain is through referring other people to sign up. Both you and your referee will get 2,500 each if they come through your invitation.

But let’s stop talking Nanas and turn to actual cash. How much is a Nana worth?
Well that one’s a bit tricky. From what I’ve gathered, you’ll have to accrue 45,000 Nanas in order to cash out $2 via PayPal or Amazon gift card. If it takes ten minutes to complete a 1,000-point task, you’ll have to spend a whopping 450 hours to get those $2! Now that’s a feat – and one that I have no intention of even trying.
But that’s not all there is. Some users complain about not getting their earnings even though they’ve spent hours on the task at hand. Take a look at these two for example.
AppNana Advantages
- Cash via PayPal is an option. While we appreciate free games as well as Amazon, iTunes, Google Play and Xbox gift cards, nothing beats dollars.
- The concept of getting rewards for playing games and downloading apps is fun. That is not to say that everyone will enjoy it though. It really depends on your taste.
- Additional ways to earn Nanas (that is, Nana points). You’ll get 10,000 of those for signing up, plus 2,500 per referral, 400 per day for logging in, and 5 per ad or video.
AppNana Disadvantages
- Making money online is tough – but here it’s even tougher. Sure, you don’t have to break your back with AppNana. But if you have to play games to earn a tiny fraction of a penny, it’s nowhere near a good bargain. How about reaching level 12 on a mind-numbing game just to get 1,000 credits?
- You can only use the app on mobile. While being mobile-friendly is great, being mobile-exclusive isn’t all that good.
- Some users complain that they didn’t get their points after completing their tasks. And when you know that it may take days to complete a task, it makes it even worse.
- The company seems a bit shady. While we won’t go so far as to call it a scam, it’s still a bit suspicious to not include a phone, address, or representatives on their website – or anywhere on the internet for that matter.
Final Verdict – Does It Make Sense to Download the App?
In my honest opinion, AppNana isn’t worth your time. As easy as their tasks are, I just can’t see a point in something that pays not peanuts but peanut husks. Having someone spend hundreds of hours just to throw $2 their way really doesn’t seem like a fair treatment. Not unless you want to go baNanas.
If you’re desperate for cash, you would fare better with either of these mobile survey apps. Neither of those will make you rich or even pay your bills, but at least they won’t degrade you into a robot doing free labor to get nothing in return.
